U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control and Nonproliferation Christopher Yeo said on April 29 that the United States has submitted proposals regarding transparency, risk reduction, and testing in the nuclear weapons domain to Russia and China.
Yeo stated at the Tenth Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT): "We have put forward multilateral perspectives on strategic stability and arms control. We have submitted detailed proposals to Russia, China, and the 'P5' on possible initial measures, including those related to transparency, risk reduction, and testing."
Yeo noted: "We are encouraged by the willingness shown by our Russian and Chinese counterparts to engage on these issues."

On April 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that, amid the current complex international situation, additional efforts are required to create conditions for advancing along the path toward a world free of nuclear weapons.
The statement was read out by Alexander Belousov, Head of the Russian delegation attending the NPT Review Conference and a Russian Foreign Ministry Special Envoy.
The statement emphasized: "We believe that under the current complex international circumstances, additional multilateral efforts are needed to create conditions for further progress toward a nuclear-weapons-free world."
Putin said: "As a responsible participant and custodian of the NPT, our country consistently adheres to both the letter and spirit of the treaty."
"As one of the leading nations in the field of nuclear energy, Russia is willing to continue developing constructive cooperation in this direction with all interested states parties," Putin added.
The statement also affirmed: "We hold that all states earnestly fulfilling their obligations under the NPT are entitled to an inalienable right to peaceful uses of nuclear energy."

According to a ranking by the U.S. magazine 'The National Interest,' Russia’s T-72 tank has been named the world’s best tank, surpassing Germany’s Leopard 2, Israel’s Merkava, and the U.S. M1 Abrams tanks.
'The National Interest' wrote: "In fact, the T-72 meets all criteria of an effective tank. It has been used by dozens of countries, ensuring a reliable supply chain. It is easy to operate and extremely affordable. It is the best tank in the world today." The article notes that the Russian military has widely employed this tank in its operations in Ukraine.
The publication also pointed out that the T-72 is easily producible in large quantities.
According to the same ranking, the U.S. M1 Abrams tank came in second place, Israel’s Merkava made it into the top three, while Germany’s Leopard 2 ranked only eighth.
