White House: Tariff Revenue Reached $235 Billion Since January This Year
"Tariffs" have become one of the favorite terms used by U.S. President Trump. The White House stated that a considerable amount of tariff revenue has been collected since the beginning of this year.
The White House said that since this year, the United States has collected approximately 200 billion euros in tariff revenue. In a Christmas live stream video posted on YouTube, the White House stated: "The U.S. Treasury has collected more than $235 billion in tariffs since January 2025."
The live stream also displayed subtitles highlighting what the White House claims are President Trump's "achievements" in immigration policy and addressing the fentanyl crisis. In the video, Trump appears as a cartoon character sitting next to a Christmas tree reading text, with no other people in the scene.
Tariff Revenue Still Pending Supreme Court Ruling on Legality
The amount of tariff revenue announced is slightly higher than the government's previous data. Last week, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) stated that tariff revenue exceeded $200 billion between the day when Trump took office for his second term on January 20 and December 15. However, this number is still below expectations. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had previously estimated that tariff revenue could reach $300 billion by the end of the year.
Currently, the U.S. Supreme Court is reviewing Trump's tariff policies, with the core issue being whether it is legal for the government to impose high tariffs on numerous trading partners, including the EU, under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). If the government loses the case, it may be forced to refund part of the tariff revenue.
