The thermal power plant in the former Khangai Province of Mongolia was funded by South Korea

Montsame, Ulaanbaatar, July 1st: At the regular meeting of the seventh provincial citizen representatives, relevant officials reported on the progress of the construction of the thermal power plant and the power transmission line project. The thermal power plant project is funded by South Korea with a total amount of 14.03 million US dollars (approximately 49 billion tugrik), which has a power generation capacity of 30 megawatt-hours and has been officially launched.

The project includes the construction of 11 substations and a dual-line system from the thermal power plant to the substation, with a total length of 8.3 kilometers. The construction of the project is scheduled to be completed before May 31, 2026.

Due to the failure of the South Korean "Biuksan Engineering" company to complete all the construction tasks, the government has re-launched the bidding process through the state budget. In the first stage, except for the main thermal power plant and 11 heating stations, the remaining parts will be continued by the "M I S S" company with a budget of 8.2 billion tugrik.

The second stage of the purification system, water supply for the thermal power plant, and communication lines will be constructed by the "U Z Erdene" company with a contract amount of 160 million tugrik.

According to the latest construction plan, the thermal power plant is expected to be officially put into operation in August 2027.
