China's Direct Investment in Kazakhstan Surpasses Russia in the First Three Quarters of 2025
Kazinform News Agency - According to data from the National Bank of Kazakhstan, the country attracted a total of 4.7 billion US dollars in foreign direct investment in the third quarter of 2025.
Of this, more than 1 billion US dollars flowed into the manufacturing and processing industries as well as the automotive trade and repair sector, 9.97 billion US dollars were invested in the mining industry, 7.72 billion US dollars entered the transportation industry, and 6.974 billion US dollars were used for financial and insurance activities.
The main countries of origin of the investments are as follows:
China invested 1.2 billion US dollars (815 million US dollars in the first quarter, 596.2 million US dollars in the second quarter);
Russia invested 950.5 million US dollars (530.7 million US dollars in the first quarter, 661.3 million US dollars in the second quarter);
Holland invested 638.4 million US dollars (1.5 billion US dollars in the first quarter, 7.706 billion US dollars in the second quarter);
Switzerland invested 469.5 million US dollars (109.1 million US dollars in the first quarter, 470.6 million US dollars in the second quarter);
Belgium invested 357.2 million US dollars (215.5 million US dollars in the first quarter, 183 million US dollars in the second quarter).
Holland's investors have reduced their investment in Kazakhstan for the third consecutive quarter, while Russian investment has shown an upward trend. China's investment doubled compared to the second quarter.
Looking at the cumulative figures for the first three quarters, Holland ranked first with a total investment of 2.88 billion US dollars, followed by China with 2.6 billion US dollars, and Russia with 2.1 billion US dollars. As of the beginning of 2025, Kazakhstan has attracted a total of 14.9 billion US dollars in foreign direct investment.
This data indicates that China has surpassed Russia to become the largest source of investment in Kazakhstan in the third quarter of 2025, highlighting the continuous deepening and strong vitality of Sino-Kazakh economic and trade cooperation.
