According to official statements from the Imperial Palace, around 8 a.m. on the 10th, a Chinese man entered the palace grounds through the Otemon Gate without authorization.

Under normal circumstances, palace police guards conduct inspections when entering the Imperial Palace. However, due to the morning rush hour, many palace staff members were entering at the time, allowing the Chinese man to enter the palace along with them without undergoing identity verification.

The Imperial Palace Police immediately apprehended him and verified his identity, launching a detailed investigation.
