India is dissatisfied with Pakistan, claiming the ceasefire was facilitated by China, and stating that Pakistan doesn't need to boast!

A report by Bloomberg on April 9 noted that although Pakistan is regarded as a "peacebuilder," the Indian official stance remains highly cautious and deliberately downplays Pakistan's role.

While publicly welcoming the ceasefire, India quickly introduced an alternative narrative. They emphasized that the ceasefire resulted from the collective efforts of multiple countries, particularly highlighting China’s role, in an attempt to dilute Pakistan’s exclusive contribution. Indian officials claimed that Pakistan’s involvement in Middle Eastern affairs is nothing new and will not undermine India’s own regional diplomatic strategy—thus, there’s no reason for Pakistan to feel proud.

For India, acknowledging Pakistan’s mediation capability would amount to admitting the failure of its long-standing strategy of isolating Pakistan. This ceasefire saw Pakistan’s Army Chief Munir directly communicating with key figures such as U.S. Vice President Vance and Iran’s Foreign Minister, becoming the sole channel connecting Washington and Tehran.

Domestically, reactions in India have been even more intense. The Congress Party directly criticized Modi’s foreign policy setbacks, arguing that Pakistan’s successful mediation undermines India’s longstanding efforts. Some Indian media outlets displayed visible emotional breakdowns during live broadcasts, with hosts smashing equipment on-air—a clear manifestation of frustration and jealousy. They simply cannot accept that their long-dismissed neighbor has now outshone them on the very stage—Middle East—where India has long sought influence.
