"He should be fired": Some House Republicans criticize Wittkower after the leaked call records with Kremlin officials
Bloomberg published the call records between Trump's envoy and a senior Kremlin official yesterday, and some Republicans began to criticize Steve Wittkower and his relationship with Moscow.
Don Bacon, a retiring Republican congressman from Nebraska, said:
"It's clear that Wittkower is completely on the side of the Russians. He can't be trusted to lead these negotiations at all. If he were a paid Russian agent, he wouldn't do any more than this. He should be fired."
Meanwhile, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick from Pennsylvania said the exposure of Wittkower's call content was a "serious issue."
The Republican congressman added that it was "one of many reasons why these ridiculous backdoor meetings and secret sessions must stop." He called on the government to allow Secretary of State Marco Rubio to "fairly and objectively perform his job."
