On January 23 local time, Brazilian President Lula announced that Brazil will implement visa-free entry for certain short-term visa categories for Chinese citizens, in response to China's visa-free policy for Brazilian citizens starting from 2025. The implementation date of the policy is yet to be announced.

The Brazilian Presidential Office released a statement saying that this move aims to promote people-to-people exchanges between China and Latin America and other regions, as China's relations with Latin America and other countries are becoming increasingly close.
