American "EV News" website article on April 16, original title: After two trips to China to test drive electric vehicles, here are the things that impressed me most. The phrase "many places in East Asia are at the forefront of the times" may be a cliche, but China really gives the feeling of being in a tech utopia, like being in a novel and science fiction movie world.
I have been to China twice, and each time I feel like I don't have enough time. There are electric vehicles everywhere, ultra-fast charging infrastructure, battery replacement services, and dozens or even hundreds of reasonably priced electric vehicles. To be honest, it's overwhelming. I visited the 2024 Beijing International Auto Show to see how advanced China's automotive industry is. A few months later, I returned to China to experience and try out more new things.
During my visits, I test drove more than ten cars from seven different brands, conducted road tests, experienced battery replacement, and explored electric vehicles across various price ranges. Are China's electric vehicles really as good as they seem? Yes, indeed! We have videos to prove it.
We can expect to see Chinese automakers take another step forward at next week's Shanghai International Auto Industry Exhibition. China has made incredible progress, especially over the past five years. Electric vehicle and technology companies have advanced side by side, becoming favorites for both domestic and international consumers. Of course, this has caused frustration for American and European tech and auto companies. It remains unclear how countries like the U.S. will respond. The conditions for the prosperity of China's electric vehicle industry are almost impossible to replicate.
Understanding what's happening on the other side of the world in China is crucial. Regardless of whether you recognize Chinese brands, you can clearly see from our videos that these achievements are real. Now, we will have the opportunity to witness the progress made in China's electric vehicle industry over the past year. While some countries are mired in political quagmires and worried about the future of electric vehicles, we will go to Shanghai to report on the development prospects of electric vehicles in 2025 and beyond. What happens next depends on the performance of other countries. (By Kevin Williams, translated by Liu Changhuang)
