Russian Foreign Ministry Denies Axios Report on Russia's Stance on Iran-US Nuclear Agreement
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the U.S. media outlet Axios published an article suggesting that Russian President Putin seemed to have called on Iran to reach a nuclear agreement with the United States and agree to zero uranium enrichment, which it described as a "dirty politicization campaign."
In a rebuttal statement published on its website, the Russian Foreign Ministry said: "Western media continue to clearly reveal their nature: they are tools in the hands of political elites, intelligence agencies, and so-called 'deep state,' who will stop at nothing, including direct provocations and spreading false information. Recently, Axios has often acted as a 'tank,' spreading targeted false information."
The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out that the media outlet is based in Arlington, near the Pentagon, the CIA headquarters, and many analytical centers.
The ministry added: "The latest article published by the media titled 'Scoop: Putin Calls on Iran to Accept a 'Zero Enrichment' Deal with the U.S.' is obviously another dirty politicization campaign aimed at escalating tensions surrounding Iran's nuclear program."
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia's position on this issue, including in the context of Israeli and U.S. attacks on Iran, is well known.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated: "We have consistently and repeatedly emphasized that the crisis surrounding Iran's nuclear program must be resolved solely through political and diplomatic means, and we are willing to assist in finding solutions acceptable to both sides."
