Trump unexpectedly claimed: If China were like Japan, I'd be okay!

According to Reuters on September 12, U.S. President Trump said Friday that he has no objection if Chinese automakers want to enter the U.S. market by setting up factories in America, just as Japan has done.

Yet, the U.S. Congress and domestic auto giants are pushing forward legislation aimed at banning Chinese-controlled enterprises from producing intelligent connected vehicles in the United States starting in 2027. Who would dare still build factories in the U.S.? Are they going to produce a huge amount of traditional gasoline-powered cars instead?

On one hand, the U.S. ignores international rules and erects a "small courtyard with high walls"; on the other, it throws out an olive branch that appears unfeasible. The U.S. is really good at playing this game.
