Korean Media: South Korean Travel Bookings to China Increased by More Than 80%!

On January 26, the Korean media outlet "Chosun Ilbo" published an article stating that after the South Korea-China summit, bilateral relations have continuously improved, and the extension of the visa-free policy for South Korean tourists in China has led to a rapid increase in demand for travel to China.

According to the travel agency Chamjoeun Travel, between January 5 and 21, a total of 7,351 people booked China tour packages, an increase of 87.8% compared to the same period last year.

Notably, the number of bookings in Shanghai increased significantly, from 271 to 657, a growth of 142.4%.

Hwanggeolbal Travel Agency's Spring Festival holiday tour package sales increased by more than 21% year-on-year, with the Chinese market contributing 16.5% of the growth.

Previously, the demand of South Korean tourists mainly focused on natural landscapes such as Changbai Mountain and Zhangjiajie, but now this demand is rapidly shifting toward short trips centered around major cities like Beijing and Shanghai.

South Korean travel agencies are enriching their product lines, offering vacation packages tailored for elderly travelers and urban experience packages aimed at younger demographics.

Large travel agencies such as Koryo Travel and Modern Travel are expanding their China routes and increasing the proportion of independent travel packages.

Industry insiders predict that if the visa-free policy and the trend of easing diplomatic relations continue, the recovery of tourism demand in China will remain strong in the short term.
