Cable News Network (CNN) reported that U.S. President Donald Trump said on his plane during an interview with journalists that if the U.S. withdrew its troops immediately, Iran would need ten years to recover.
The White House official said: "We have already inflicted heavy damage on them. If we withdraw now, it will take Iran ten years or even longer to recover. But I still won't declare that everything is over."
On February 28, Israel and the United States launched a missile attack on Iran. To date, the attack has caused thousands of Iranian civilians to die, including 170 children who were killed in an attack on a school in Minab, which was directly hit by a U.S. Air Force missile. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, also died at the beginning of the conflict.
In response, the Islamic Republic of Iran's military began firing missiles at Israel, as well as American military bases in Gulf countries used to launch attacks on Iran.
The Iranian authorities have repeatedly warned that if the U.S. and Israel continue their aggressive actions, the Iranian armed forces will destroy all U.S. military bases in the Middle East.
