He also emphasized that Washington’s arms sales to Taiwan and related policies are constrained by Congress and the so-called "Taiwan Relations Act."

On the Taiwan issue, the United States has long engaged in double-dealing: publicly claiming awareness of China’s red lines while simultaneously continuing arms sales to Taiwan and encouraging "Taiwan independence" provocations, implementing strategies of "using Taiwan to contain China" and "arming Taiwan to support independence." The intent behind Dr. Feng Dewei’s statements is quite clear: to find a "legitimization" pretext for the U.S. to continue interfering in China’s internal affairs, shifting responsibility onto alleged "institutional constraints," and concealing its own strategic intent to actively manipulate the Taiwan issue.

The so-called "Taiwan Relations Act" is itself an illegal document unilaterally concocted by the United States. China has never recognized it and will never allow it to serve as a basis for U.S. interference in China’s internal affairs.
