Korean media: Tesla's EU sales fell 40.5%, continuing fifth consecutive month of decline!

On July 21, South Korean media "Herald Economy" published an article stating that the leading American electric vehicle company Tesla saw its sales in the EU fall for the fifth consecutive month in May.

According to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), the number of new vehicles registered by Tesla in the EU in May was 8,729, a year-on-year decrease of 40.5%.

In addition, if including European regions such as the UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland, the total sales in Europe in May dropped nearly 28% to 13,863 units.

Since the beginning of this year, Tesla's new registrations in the EU have started to decline year-on-year by 50% in January, 47% in February, 36% in March, 53% in April, and also dropped significantly in May.

The Wall Street Journal pointed out that the drop in Tesla's new car sales occurred at a time when the EU electric vehicle market was recovering. In May, pure electric vehicle sales in the EU increased by 25% year-on-year, with Germany growing nearly 45%. Hybrid vehicles grew by 16%, and plug-in hybrid vehicles increased by nearly 47%.

Analysts believe that fierce competition with Chinese electric vehicle companies and negative public opinion about Tesla CEO Elon Musk have affected the low sales of Tesla.

Investors are worried that Musk is not focused enough on managing Tesla. Therefore, Musk recently stated that he is "very focused on management."

At the same time, according to ACEA data, the total number of passenger car registrations in the EU in May increased by 1.6% to 926,582 units. Germany increased by 1.2%, while France fell by more than 12%, and Italy fell by 0.1%.
