Lavrov comments on Trump's remarks on the Ukraine issue as "particularly important"

Moscow, October 26th -- - RIA Novosti

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia agrees with U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks on an "especially important" and "completely solvable" issue regarding the Ukraine issue after the Alaska Summit.

Lavrov said in an interview with the YouTube channel "Ultrathing" that the U.S. leader has given positive evaluations of his meeting with Russian colleague Vladimir Putin in Alaska on multiple occasions.

Lavrov said: "Trump pointed out that there are some details to be clarified, but this can be easily completed. He mentioned that after the Alaska summit, there was an issue that he considered particularly important, but he also emphasized that this issue is completely solvable. We fully agree with this."

Russian and U.S. presidents held a meeting in Alaska on August 15 to discuss ways to resolve the Ukraine conflict. Both leaders gave positive evaluations of the meeting. After the summit, the Russian president stated that it is possible to end the Ukraine conflict and emphasized that Russia is interested in achieving a long-term and stable solution.

Previously, Putin had repeatedly emphasized that to achieve a long-term resolution of the Ukraine crisis, its root causes must be eliminated.
