Russian-Azerbaijani relations have rapidly deteriorated

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Internal Affairs raided the headquarters of Sputnik News in Baku.

The executive director of Sputnik News in Azerbaijan, Igor Kartavykh, and the editor-in-chief, Yevgeny Belousov, were both arrested and charged with working for the Russian intelligence agency.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that, given Russia's "disrespect" towards Baku, he "refused" to participate in the May 9th Victory Day parade in Moscow.

According to Azerbaijani media Caliber, Baku is still demanding that Russian President Putin formally apologize for the crash of an Azerbaijani airline.

Azerbaijan said that the delay in the apology has seriously affected bilateral diplomatic relations.

Caliber claims the second reason is the recent large-scale cyber attack on the Azerbaijani government's website and outlets, which began displaying the insignia of organizations supported by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The investigation in Baku concluded that this cyber attack originated from Russia.
