Russia Cuts Off Mobile Networks Within Its Borders to Counter Ukrainian Drones

Because Ukraine has started using Russia's mobile networks during its counterattacks, Russia now regularly cuts off the internet on an irregular basis every day. These measures have begun to seriously disrupt the daily lives of Russians.

Due to the war with Ukraine, Russia's mobile internet network is now frequently experiencing outages. Since last month, Russia has been intermittently cutting off the network for several hours at a time. The purpose is to prevent Ukrainian drones that use mobile networks for navigation from launching attacks.

According to documents reviewed by the media, the daily orders to shut down mobile internet come from local officials responsible for reporting drone intrusions, not from Moscow. The Russian Ministry of Communications has not responded to requests for comment.
