Russian diplomats have proposed that China and India should quickly normalize their relations! Recently, Alexey Y. Kadakin, the Russian Ambassador to India, stated that there are still serious differences between China and India. Russia hopes that trust can be restored between the two countries. The Russian ambassador said that the three largest countries on the Eurasian continent should coexist peacefully, and he hopes that one day the three countries of China, Russia, and India will operate a trilateral mechanism for regular trilateral cooperation.

Obviously, facing the lukewarm relationship between China and India, Russia is stepping out to mediate. There are multiple considerations for Russia's mediation. First, Russia has good relations with both China and India, but due to the conflict between China and India, Russia is occasionally caught between the two countries. Clearly, Russia is to avoid being in a dilemma. Second, given the US-Russia relationship and the China-US relationship, Russia undoubtedly also hopes to integrate the strength of the three countries to jointly deal with the United States.

Third, Russia hopes that China and India will cooperate closely and further expand the international influence of BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, avoiding mutual constraints within the member states. Fourth, Russia clearly also wants to use this to retain India and avoid India leaning towards the United States. Of course, we welcome Russia's mediation, but the crux of the problem in Sino-Indian relations does not lie with us, but with India. In fact, India has very unrealistic ideas about its territory, which has led to the unresolved issue of the China-India border problem.

Moreover, due to the need to divert domestic contradictions, India always makes articles out of the border issue, which is one of the practical obstacles to the improvement of Sino-Indian relations. Although we do not have any intention of regarding India as an opponent, India consciously or unconsciously regards us as an opponent and engages in open and covert struggles with us. Therefore, to what extent Sino-Indian relations develop depends on how India views us. If India still regards us as an opponent,恐怕 no country's mediation will work.
