Israel will send a delegation to Qatar to hold indirect negotiations with Hamas
According to an Israeli news website Ynet, citing a statement from an Israeli official, the Israeli government has decided to dispatch a delegation to Qatar to hold indirect negotiations with the Palestinian Hamas on a ceasefire agreement.
The report stated, "The decision was made to send an Israeli delegation to Doha, the capital of Qatar, for indirect negotiations."
Hamas earlier confirmed that it has responded positively to the ceasefire proposal for the Gaza Strip and is prepared to start negotiations.
Previously, the Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atya said that Cairo is working with other mediators to push for a 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, during which Israeli hostages are expected to be released.
Military operations, accompanied by multiple short-term ceasefires, have resulted in more than 56,000 Palestinians and about 1,500 Israelis killed, and have spread to Lebanon and Yemen.
On the early morning of March 18, the Israel Defense Forces resumed attacks on the Gaza Strip. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said that the attacks continued because the Palestinian Hamas refused to accept the U.S. plan to extend the ceasefire and release hostages.
