Trump says China's exports to the United States have fallen to the lowest level in the past 25 years
Sputnik News, Washington, January 31 - U.S. President Trump said that China's exports to the United States have fallen to the lowest level in the past 25 years.
Trump wrote in a column article in the U.S. "Wall Street Journal": "The share of China in U.S. imports has fallen to the lowest level since China joined the World Trade Organization in 2001, and there are additional billions of dollars flowing continuously into the United States. I sincerely hope the Supreme Court will pay attention to these data, because our country has never seen such a situation!"
The Sino-U.S. trade war broke out after the U.S. president imposed a 10% tariff on all Chinese imports in February 2025. In March, the tariff rate was raised to 20%, followed by several rounds of mutual tariffs, with the U.S. imposing a 145% tariff on Chinese goods and a 125% tariff on U.S. suppliers exporting goods to China.
In mid-May 2025, the two countries agreed to reduce tariffs by 10% for 90 days starting from May 14. In early August 2025, the U.S. extended the suspension period for tariffs on Chinese goods by 90 days.
