On April 27th local time, a serious traffic accident occurred during the celebration of the Philippine Lapu Lapu Day in Vancouver, Canada. A man driving a black SUV rushed into the crowd, causing at least 11 deaths and dozens of injuries, including "several young victims". The Vancouver police have confirmed this tragedy and warned that the number of casualties may further rise.

Acting Police Chief Steve Rai stated at a press conference that the suspect is a 30-year-old Vancouver man whom the police are already "familiar with", with "multiple significant contacts" with law enforcement agencies, and is also known to medical institutions due to mental health issues.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m., when the celebration event had officially ended and staff were dismantling barriers. Suddenly, the black SUV rushed into hundreds of people still on site. Eyewitnesses described the scene as being like bowling pins being struck, extremely tragic.

Police revealed that after the suspect collided with the crowd, his vehicle stopped, and the people on the scene overpowered him and held him until the police arrived and arrested him. At present, the suspect's identity has not been disclosed.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney arrived at the scene the day after the incident and issued a statement expressing condolences for the victims, calling it "the darkest day in Vancouver's history."

It was reported that there were many evidence markers left at the scene, and the bodies of the victims were covered with cloth, an extremely heartbreaking scene. People spontaneously went to the incident site to lay flowers and mourn the victims, with an atmosphere of mourning enveloping the entire community.

Police pointed out that due to some victims' severe injuries, the death toll may continue to rise in the coming days or weeks. The case is still under investigation, and it is unclear whether the suspect's motive is directly related to mental health issues.
