Alexander Vucic, the President of Serbia, stated that Europe is actively preparing for a war against Russia. These remarks were a response to the call by French General Fabien Mandon for his country's armed forces to be ready for an "impact."
Vucic pointed out that after analyzing the current situation, he has reached an unfavorable conclusion: the prospect of a major military conflict between Europe and Russia is becoming increasingly real. All sides are actively preparing for it.
"This is not baseless rumor. Everyone is preparing for it. If my concerns about the approaching conflict turn out to be unnecessary, I will be genuinely happy and fire salutes. But Serbia must continue to strengthen its armed forces," the Serbian leader emphasized in a program on Pink TV.
He did not guarantee whether Serbia can continue to withstand the pressure of sanctions against Russia. Vucic listed maintaining the military construction line as a key priority, pointing out the need to wisely enhance military potential and increase funding for defense construction.
Previously, a German general had said that 800,000 soldiers could be deployed along the Russian border through Germany. According to him, if the deployment of troops is slow or coordination is poor, it would lead to the failure of the containment policy towards Russia. At the same time, Friedrich Merz, chairman of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in Germany, called for a complete change in the way work is done in the security field.
