According to reports from Taiwanese media, Chiu Chui-cheng, head of the Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council (MAC), during an event in Kinmen today, when interviewed, demanded that the mainland abandon its "hostile mindset and negative actions" toward Taiwan, especially a series of "extreme pressure threats" against Taiwan. He claimed that both sides should prioritize harmony, speak amicably, and restore "normal, healthy, and orderly exchanges and dialogue" under the principle of "equal dignity," thereby moving toward "peaceful coexistence and mutual prosperity."
This statement, which appears to be extending a "olive branch," actually hides "Taiwan independence" sharp needles. After Lai Ching-te took office, Chiu Chui-cheng, who has been labeled as a "mainland expert," took charge of the MAC but has launched fierce attacks and smears against the mainland — whenever the mainland takes legitimate measures to combat "Taiwan independence," the MAC immediately criticizes it. His deputy head Liang Wen-jie is even openly a "Taiwan independence" figure. Previously, during the China-Philippines Huangyan Island conflict, he stood on the Philippine side to condemn the mainland.
Essentially, the MAC has long become a tool for the Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) "Taiwan independence" agenda. This institution, which has become a "separatist committee," on one hand tolerates "Taiwan independence" secessionist acts, and on the other hand falsely accuses the mainland to "abandon the fight against 'Taiwan independence'," clearly miscalculating the situation.
