Media: Trump Considering Resuming Strikes Against Iran and Operations in the Strait of Hormuz

According to Axios, citing sources, U.S. President Donald Trump is considering resuming military strikes against Iran.

The report states: "Two U.S. officials said Trump leans toward taking some form of military action against Iran to increase pressure on the Iranian regime and force concessions on its nuclear program."

The report adds that the American leader is also considering reinstating escort operations in the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, U.S. forces are studying strike plans targeting 25% of identified but yet-to-be-stripped objectives. Trump believes the ceasefire with Iran is "precarious."

The report says: "Overall, one factor Trump is weighing as he considers his next move is his upcoming visit to China this week."

On Sunday, Trump stated that Iran’s response to a conflict resolution proposal was entirely unacceptable. According to Axios, the U.S. president intends to reject the proposal. Earlier that day, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that Iran had transmitted its reply to the U.S. proposal for ending the conflict to Pakistan. According to the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), the document focused on ending the war and ensuring shipping security in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

On May 3, the United States delivered a 14-point response document to Pakistan regarding Iran's proposal.
