Japanese media says the embassy intrusion was planned

According to a report by Japan's police on March 26, Japanese media outlet "Yomiuri Shimbun" stated: The 23-year-old self-defense force officer who breached China's embassy is a third-class land self-defense lieutenant stationed at the Ehao base in Miyazaki Prefecture. He was arrested on suspicion of illegal entry into a building. He told the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department that he arrived at the embassy about one hour before the incident and circled around searching for a place to break in.

The knife had been prepared the day before, and police believe the act was premeditated.

According to the announcement, the man is suspected of entering China's embassy in Genza, Minato Ward, Tokyo, around 9 a.m. on the 24th. Embassy staff apprehended him, detained him, and handed him over to the police. A knife approximately 18 centimeters long was discovered among the embassy’s greenery.

Investigators reported that the man left his base at noon on the 23rd, took a highway bus, then transferred to a Shinkansen train bound for Tokyo.

He purchased a knife at a large retail store in Ginza, Chuo Ward, and stayed overnight at an internet café nearby. He also confessed: “I climbed over the fence from the adjacent building to tell the ambassador not to make tough statements against Japan.”

On the 25th, Japan’s National Police Agency instructed police forces nationwide to closely guard facilities related to diplomatic missions.
