Major scandal breaks out within Japanese company Sharp
According to a report by Kansai Television on February 19: The former brand promotion director of the large home appliance manufacturer "Sharp" was arrested for allegedly purchasing non-essential iPads, causing the company a loss of 48 million yen (about 2.16 million RMB).
The arrested Tanaka Koichi (58 years old) used to be the head of the "Sharp" brand promotion department.
Tanaka Koichi is suspected of purchasing more than 600 non-essential iPads from 2022 to 2024, causing the company a loss of about 48 million yen.
The police said that Tanaka admitted in the investigation that he resold the iPads and used the illegal proceeds for gambling.
The police are investigating other criminal acts. Sharp told the police that the total losses from similar crimes exceeded 200 million yen (about 9 million RMB).
