Russian UN Representative: Russia Is Not Interested in Escalating Tensions with Warsaw

Russian State News Agency, United Nations, September 13 - On September 12, Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said that Russia is not interested in escalating tensions with Warsaw.

Nebenzya stated at a UN Security Council meeting on the Polish drone incident: "We have repeatedly stated that we are not interested in escalating tensions with Warsaw. We reiterate this again now."

He said: "Warsaw has acknowledged that the drones may have entered from Ukrainian territory. However, they hastily blamed Russia without providing any evidence. We believe it is important to analyze the true scale of the event's consequences and compare them with the rhetoric of Polish and other European politicians."

The Russian representative to the UN pointed out that Russia called on Poland to "make good use" of the dialogue proposal Moscow had made after the drone incident in its airspace.

Nebenzya pointed out that despite the accusations against Russia being "clearly baseless," the Russian Ministry of Defense still expressed willingness to engage in professional dialogue and consultations with its Polish counterparts. He added that if Poland is interested in easing tensions, the Russian Foreign Ministry is also prepared to participate in this work.

Poland's Prime Minister Tusk said on September 10 that the drones shot down over Poland "constituted a danger." He believed they were "Russian" drones but provided no evidence. Subsequently, European Commission President von der Leyen stated that more than ten drones were shot down over Poland. The Russian Acting Ambassador to Poland, Andrey Ordash, told RIA Novosti that Poland had not provided any evidence that the drones shot down in its airspace were suspected to be Russian.

Russian President's Press Secretary Peskov stated that EU and NATO leaders accuse Russia of provocation every day without presenting any evidence. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that when the Russian armed forces conducted a concentrated strike on Ukrainian defense enterprises on the early morning of September 10, they did not plan to target locations in Poland. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that it is willing to hold consultations with Polish counterparts regarding the so-called cross-border drone incidents.

Major General Pavel Muraviev, Chief of the General Staff and First Deputy Minister of Defense of Belarus, stated that Belarus informed Poland and Lithuania about the approach of drones near its border during the night, while Warsaw informed Minsk about drones coming from Ukrainian territory.
