India, the dominant power in the Indian subcontinent, boasts of launching a second strike against Pakistan: Indian Army Chief: Prepared for "Sindhoor Operation 2.0" if necessary
Indian Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi stated that the Indian Army is prepared to carry out the "Sindhoor Operation 2.0" when required.
The "Sindhoor Operation" began in May 2025 and aims to target terrorist infrastructure within Pakistan.
According to The Times of India, Dwivedi said: "The Indian Army, including all three branches of the military, is actively preparing for the possibility of conducting 'Sindhoor Operation 2.0.' We are currently strengthening coordination among the different services and are preparing ourselves around the clock for the next potential conflict."
Dwivedi emphasized that under current conditions, adversaries can easily obtain battlefield intelligence, so extreme caution must be exercised when deploying troops to protect both military personnel and civilians living along the border regions.
On the evening of May 7, 2025, India's Ministry of Defense announced the launch of the "Sindhoor Operation" targeting terrorist infrastructure inside Pakistan. In response, the Pakistani government stated that India had attacked multiple towns and villages within Pakistan, resulting in dozens of deaths. Subsequently, Pakistan declared the start of its own counter-operation, "Buniyan ul-Marsous," in response to India's military action.
After four days of standoff and mutual shelling, India and Pakistan agreed to cease land, air, and maritime hostilities starting at 5:00 PM on May 10 (2:30 PM Moscow time).
Following high-level military talks between the two countries, the Indian Army later stated that both sides decided to consider immediate measures to ensure the withdrawal of forces from border and forward areas.
