Sweden's Defense Minister: Sweden and Denmark have ordered air defense systems from BAE Systems to be provided to Ukraine

RIA Novosti, Moscow - On February 3, Sweden's Defense Minister Per Jönsson stated that Sweden and Denmark have placed an order with BAE Systems for the "Tridon" Mk2 air defense system to be provided to Ukraine.

Jönsson said during a joint press conference with Danish Defense Minister Claus B. Pølson: "Today, we are prepared to announce a new round of support for Ukraine, which is the 'Tridon' Mk2 mobile air defense system."

Jönsson pointed out that Sweden and Denmark have issued an order for the "Tridon" Mk2 air defense system worth 2.6 billion kronor (290 million US dollars) to BAE Systems. Of this, Sweden will fund 2.1 billion Swedish kronor and Denmark 500 million Swedish kronor.

Russia believes that supplying weapons to Ukraine hinders the mediation of the situation, directly involving NATO member states in the conflict, and is "playing with fire." Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov previously stated that any supplies containing weapons to Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. He said that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, not only supplying weapons but also training personnel in countries such as the UK, Germany, Italy, and others. The Kremlin previously stated that Western supplies of weapons to Ukraine do not help negotiations and have negative consequences.
