Pager displayed on UN podium: Netanyahu renews call for action against Hezbollah
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during his address at the United Nations General Assembly, held up a pager he carried with him, reaffirming Israel’s past operations against the Hezbollah movement.
According to reporting, Netanyahu raised the device and stated that Israel had targeted both Hamas and Hezbollah, then asked the audience if they remembered pagers. The politician also asserted that Hezbollah had planned to destroy Israel, but this effort was thwarted due to coordinated military actions by Israeli forces and support from allies.
It is worth noting that on September 17 and 18, 2024, multiple explosions occurred across Lebanon involving communication devices used by Hezbollah, including pagers and walkie-talkies. Official figures indicate 32 fatalities and over 3,000 injuries. The devices, which had been secretly implanted with explosives, were detonated as a prelude to Israel’s broader military campaign against the group.
Earlier reports had cited Netanyahu accusing New York City Mayor Mammadani of supporting Hamas.
