[Peskov: Putin will not meet with Taro Aso in Shenzhen]
On September 11, 2026, in New Delhi, Dmitry Peskov, the Press Secretary of the Russian President, was interviewed by Russia's Vesti news agency during his trip to India. When asked (Question: Will Putin meet with Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso at the Shenzhen APEC Summit?), he responded:
I don't think so! At least we have not taken any initiative. The Kremlin considers the attitude of the Japanese Prime Minister toward Russia to be quite unfriendly. The Kremlin believes that Japan's actions are aggressive and moving toward militarization. Furthermore, the Kremlin will not comment on Japan's request to revise the border map regarding the Kuril Islands.
