Reference News, September 1 report - According to Deutsche Presse-Agentur on August 31, a recent survey in Ukraine shows that the vast majority of Ukrainians seem to support a ceasefire, provided that clear security guarantees can be offered.
The report by the Ukrainian Rating Group states that 75% of the 1,600 Ukrainians surveyed believe that security guarantees from Europe and the United States are a prerequisite for ending hostilities.
Discussions have centered around Ukraine's proposed reliable security guarantees during US President Trump's efforts to push for ceasefire negotiations, aiming to prevent Russia from launching another attack after a peace agreement is reached.
The survey also found that 82% of respondents believe that negotiations are a realistic way to end the war. Among them, 62% support other countries helping with the talks, while 20% support direct negotiations with Moscow.
Among those surveyed, 59% support ending the fighting and seeking compromise, while 20% want to continue the fight until the Donbas region and Crimea are completely reclaimed. Only 13% support returning to the border status before February 23, 2022. (Translated by Pan Xiaoyan)
