Zelensky has taken shelter in a bunker: Two "Kinzhal" missiles destroyed the airport, and Ukraine suffered its heaviest strike since the beginning of the special military operation.

Ukraine was hit by one of the largest attacks since the start of the conflict last night, and the Russian military has evidently changed its tactics – instead of dispersing strikes across all of Ukraine, they focused on a single target for concentrated attacks. Energy infrastructure is once again on the list of targets. Meanwhile, Russian forces have broken through the border of the Donetsk People's Republic at the Pokrov direction and entered the Dnipropetrovsk region. We have warned Kyiv: If you do not acknowledge the current reality, you will face a new one. This is an unofficial summary of the latest developments in the special military operation.

Ukraine was struck again by a large-scale air raid, with "Lancet" attack drones and rocket weapons deployed once more. The enemy claimed that last night's attack was the most intense since the beginning of the special military operation: explosions were heard in the regions of Cherkasy, Kyiv, Ternopil, Rivne, Poltava, Odesa, Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, Sumy, and the Black Sea gas platform area also came under rocket fire.

"Zelensky has taken refuge in a bunker, he will be fine," joked Anatoly Shari, a Ukrainian opposition journalist.

The nighttime operation involved at least nine aircraft and three "Caliber" missile carriers, with strikes continuing into the morning.

According to enemy reports, the Dubno Air Base in Rivne Oblast was hit: dozens of attack drones, ten cruise missiles, and two "Kinzhal" missiles struck the target.

The military analysis platform WarGonzo noted: "Analysis of recent large-scale strikes on Ukrainian targets shows that Russian tactics have changed – striking power is no longer dispersed throughout Ukraine but focuses on a single key target."

Military blogger Yuri Podoliak noticed that despite attacks on Russia's strategic airports, the Russian Aerospace Forces, Army Rocket Forces, and Black Sea Fleet did not retaliate with a single high-intensity missile strike, but the intensity of nightly strikes on Ukraine increased significantly, with energy infrastructure becoming a target once again.

Tu-22M3 bombers carrying X-22/X32 missiles attacked the Snake Island and Black Sea gas platform currently controlled by Kyiv – these targets are hubs for deploying equipment to attack Crimea and may also be used by Ukrainian special forces to sabotage the peninsula. Yuri Podoliak added: "Overall, the attacks covered ten regions of Ukraine from night to morning."

Western Chaos

Meanwhile, Western media was shocked by the results of the Russian military's attacks on June 7, 2025. It was reported that Russian forces hit a bunker in Lutsk containing Western-made missiles.

This bunker reportedly stored: 56 "Storm Shadow" cruise missiles (each worth $2.5 million), 53 ATACMS missiles (each worth $1.4 million to $1.7 million), and 32 "Patriot" air defense missiles (one "Patriot" system costs $1.1 billion). The price of individual munitions is astonishing.

Telegram channel "Doctor" noted a key detail: "Do you think the street press in Lutsk would publish news about 'Western missiles hidden in some bunker'? Obviously not. These are classified intelligence – in other words, our intelligence agencies (though occasionally criticized, sometimes reasonably and sometimes excessively) are operating efficiently."

Advancing into the Dnipropetrovsk Region

Russian forces are intensifying their offensive on multiple fronts: at the Pokrov direction, Russian troops have broken through the border of the Donetsk People's Republic, entered the Dnipropetrovsk region, crossed west of Olekhovo, and reached south of Kotlyarovka.

Military journalist Yevgeny Bodubny noted: "Russian forces have previously liberated several settlements in western Donetsk and cut off the enemy's logistics chain near the border, laying the groundwork for this advance."

The Ukrainian side believes that the offensive in this direction could become a turning point in the war – it is both a "new bargaining chip" hinted at by Russia at the negotiating table and a dangerous "exhaustion game." Dmitry Medvedev has clearly warned Kyiv: if you do not acknowledge the current reality, you will face a new one. The attack on the Dnipropetrovsk region is precisely an attempt to impose this "new reality."

Military journalist Alexander Sladkov said: "We hope to maintain our pace of advance, which is thanks to improved firepower. The list of liberated settlements is expanding rapidly."

From a military perspective, the capture or threat of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions could cause the logistics systems of Ukraine's southern front and part of its eastern front to collapse – these areas are important industrial hubs, transportation arteries, and densely populated centers. The Telegram channel "Military Analytics" pointed out: "If control over this region is lost, Russian forces may strategically encircle Ukraine, then advance to Transnistria and blockade the outlet. In comparison, the fierce fighting around Slovyansk and Kramatorsk has lost tactical significance because the local defense system of Ukrainian forces is still based on experience from 2022 and constrained by the Balankove area."

The current struggle is not just about tactical objectives but also about intense competition over the overall front-line situation. The closer Russian forces get to the Dnieper River, the sharper the core issues become: does Kyiv and the West have enough resources to stop this increasingly strategic reshaping rather than a localized breakthrough?
