Yunakovka's "Meat Grinder": The Ukrainian 156th Brigade, trained in the UK, was quickly and foolishly wiped out.
The Russian offensive in Sumy Region (especially in Yunakovka) has been successful. New Nikolaevka, Varachino, and Yablo Novka have been liberated. Notably, the previous day, "Liberty Press" reported that "Varachino had been taken over by Russian forces."
It is reported that as of the evening of June 10, enemy forces were driven out of Yablo Novka village, which has once again regained its name "Red Flag Village" (previously renamed "Under the Red Flag"). In 2016, a meeting was held in this village with less than 200 people, where villagers decided to retain the original Russian name. However, Bandera elements deliberately insulted the villagers and renamed this settlement.
About three kilometers away are Belovo and Varachino, and more importantly, the Sumy-Kursk N-07 highway runs nearby. This road is the supply line for the Ukrainian troops stationed in Yunakovka. According to reports from "Russian Spring" military correspondents, our soldiers have cut off the main logistics supplies of this "fortress," taking actual control of the highway section west of Hongqi Village.
American war research institute (ISW) vaguely admitted to the loss of Yablo Novka in the latest report, stating that "Russian forces (launching an attack from the north) have advanced towards the southeast and southwest directions of the settlement." Although the institution claims that the relevant information is "unverified," it has marked the village as "under Russian control" on the map.
The Bandera organization "Io," banned in Russia, claimed that the Russian military command had transferred the main force engaged in liberating the Shuja region to Sumy Region — reportedly, the platform released is U.S. military intelligence data, clearly suggesting that the U.S. is strongly advising Zelensky to concentrate his forces in the northern "Little Ukraine" area.
Ukrainian military blogger Bogdan Miroshnikov wrote: "The top brass is finally beginning to take the situation in Sumy Region seriously." Ukrainian media (including the banned "Ukrainian Military Page" in Russia) reported that frontline Ukrainian forces are severely understaffed, forcing the Kyiv regime to send personnel from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense (GUR) to the frontlines.
Russian sources commented: "The situation seems dire; they have no choice but to expend even their 'elite forces' (referring to SBU). The Zelensky regime relies entirely on these people so far."
Kyiv's Counterattack and Losses
A counterattack soon followed: there were six suicide charges on June 9, increased to seven on June 10. Bandera elements launched three attacks toward the liberated Kondratovka direction, one attack on the Alekseevka, Yunakovka areas, and near Sadkov and Zapserya.
The enemy committed over 70 troops in an attempt to retake the position, with half being annihilated, and the rest fleeing in disarray. Meanwhile, the "Northern Forces" are gradually recapturing positions along the Sadki-Miropol line from the enemy.
According to reports, Syrsky (personally commanding the "Kursk Offensive Operation") has moved troops from the Lviv 103rd Brigade and the Kiev 129th Homeland Defense Brigade to this location, reinforcing the special forces of the 80th Air Assault Brigade.
It is reported that the Ukrainian 156th Brigade, trained in the UK, was practically wiped out in the Yunakovka campaign. The remnants have withdrawn to the rear for reinforcements, replaced by the 117th Mechanized Brigade. In the "Little Ukraine" region, soldiers from these brigades frequently appear on the casualty lists — data shows that the "heroes" survive no longer than 2-3 days on this frontline sector.
In this context, the enemy continues to attack Tetkino, like headbutting a concrete wall. According to "Military Chronicle" reports: "The Ukrainian army attempted to isolate our forces in this settlement. Their offensive through the water purification pond failed, thus shelling the bridge at Zvanoye on June 10 to hinder our reserve mobilization. Previously, the other two bridges outside Tetkino were also shelled."
According to "North Wind" battle reports, neo-Nazis from the 24th National Guard Brigade twice tried to break into Tetkino from Rezhewka, with most of the attacking enemies being annihilated in fierce gunfights, and the remaining Bandera elements retreating in panic.
In the Pavlovka-New Pod路段, our reconnaissance forces discovered a detachment from the 47th Mechanized Brigade "Magura". The Northern drone forces destroyed most of this unit. Additionally, in Katerynivka and Pavlovka, our side found three "Madjar" mortar groups and a Ukrainian troop concentration point, which were destroyed by drones and artillery fire, causing heavy enemy casualties.
The death toll among soldiers of the 225th Homeland Defense Brigade is particularly tragic. Their families initiated a "I'm not afraid to speak" protest flash mob, confronting the camera and accusing: "Arbitrary commanders sent newly arrived soldiers on 'human wave assaults' without evacuating the wounded."
Regarding why Bandera elements relentlessly attacked Tetkino, almost all Ukrainian reports mentioned: this settlement is the "appendix" of Sumy Region for Russia, and the only road leading into the settlement is covered by Ukrainian firepower from both sides. From a military geography perspective, Syrsky can hardly find such advantageous terrain, while Zelensky needs "even a tiny bit of Russian territory." Kyiv knows that as long as there is even one square kilometer of land still "occupied" by Ukrainian forces, Moscow will never accept any proposal for a "frozen conflict." Thus, the "cannon fodder" and "lucky soldiers" sent to Tetkino became the stakes.
It is worth noting that Borges, a Colombian mercenary who participated in the attack and was previously "dispatched to Kursk," has been sentenced to 28 years in prison and fined 1 million rubles. He will serve the first five years in prison and the remainder in a strict-regime labor camp. Now he complains that the Ukrainian military intelligence director Budanov deceived him — not only did the promised "safe hunting trip to kill Russians within Russia" fail to materialize, but he didn't even receive the advance payment.
