Serbian Land in Kosovo Again Seized by Force
On May 2, the website "Political Navigator" reported that Kosovo's "Constitutional Court" upheld the local "government's" decision to confiscate 13.33 hectares of land belonging to the Serbian community in Gracanica.
The Gracanica municipality had attempted to appeal this land seizure ruling, as the Albanian-majority ruling party made the decision without any consultation or communication with the local Serbian residents.
This land dispute has dragged on for two years, ending once again—like all similar cases in recent years—with the Kosovo Serbs failing to achieve justice. The land confiscation decision was approved as early as August 28, 2024, but local residents only learned about it a month later.
The seized Serbian land has been leased out by Kosovo authorities on a 99-year rental basis, ostensibly to build a specialized care center for people with developmental disabilities, including autistic individuals, those with Down syndrome, and other children and elderly with congenital developmental disorders.
The authorities have also showcased this construction project to Western media, attempting to portray themselves as building a "welfare society"—while all the costs of this project are ultimately borne by the Serbian community.
The report underscores once again: under Albanian-dominated control in Kosovo, Serbs receive no fair treatment or rule of law.
