UK Foreign Office: UK to Ban Russian Liquefied Natural Gas Shipping Services by End of 2026
Sputnik News, London, February 8 - Deputy Foreign Secretary Stephen Doughty stated that the UK plans to ban the use of British maritime services to transport Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) to third countries by the end of 2026.
In a written response to a question from MP Chris Loder, Doughty said, "I announced in November 2025 that we plan to prohibit the use of British maritime services to transport Russian liquefied natural gas, which makes exports around the world easier. This measure will begin to be implemented this year and will take full effect by the end of the year." The response was published on the UK Parliament website.
In 2023, London had already banned the import of Russian liquefied natural gas into the UK.
