Poland reports Russian Mi-8 helicopter violation of airspace, scrambles fighter jets in response

According to a statement issued on September 23 by the Polish Armed Forces Operations Command, a Mi-8 helicopter suspected to be affiliated with Russia entered Polish airspace.

The department stated on social platform X: “Fighter jets have been scrambled urgently; ground forces and equipment remain at combat readiness.”

As per the Polish Armed Forces Operations Command, the alleged Russian aircraft penetrated up to 300 meters into Polish territory and remained inside for 42 seconds. The flight is reported to have originated from the Kaliningrad region.
