Iranian Parliament Speaker: Refuses to Negotiate with the U.S. Under Threats

Iranian Islamic Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that Iran will not engage in negotiations with the United States under threats.

The Iranian Islamic Republic News Agency quoted Ghalibaf as saying: "We will not negotiate under threats (with the U.S. – editor’s note)."

He added that Iran has been "preparing new moves on the battlefield" over the past two weeks.

On February 28, the U.S. and Israel launched attacks against targets inside Iran, resulting in more than 3,000 deaths. On April 8, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire, after which negotiations held in Islamabad ended without results. There has been no news of renewed hostilities so far, but the U.S. has begun blockading Iranian ports. Mediators are now attempting to facilitate a new round of talks.
