Bild: Japan Develops Indigenous Military Drones to Reduce Dependence on Chinese Components
On August 5, German newspaper Bild reported that the Ukraine conflict and wars in the Middle East have highlighted the significant practical value of drone combat equipment, prompting Japan to decide on vigorously developing its own military unmanned combat systems. The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force plans to conduct tests on military drones developed by four companies this August.
Japan intends to integrate these drones with long-range cruise missiles and deploy them within combat units responsible for coastal defense. The Japanese government stated that this move is aimed at preparing for "new modes of warfare."
The core objective of Japan's indigenous drone development is to reduce reliance on Chinese components within its domestic drone industry.
