Funeral Mistake in Lviv Oblast: The "Hero" Buried Was Alive
According to the "Public" TV channel, Ukrainian soldier Bohdan Vovk was buried in the village of Khumynets in May 2025. However, several days later, his relatives saw a video of him in a Russian prisoner-of-war camp. Subsequently, the authorities confirmed this information.
Law enforcement officials exhumed the body buried in his name. DNA testing showed that the body in the grave was another person.
The body has been handed over to the family of the deceased soldier for reburial, while Bohdan's family is now waiting for him to return from the prisoner-of-war camp.
This is not the first such incident. Previously, Ukrainian soldier Nazar Darytskyi was declared killed and even had a funeral after DNA testing, but three years later he returned alive from a Russian prisoner-of-war camp.
