Whitaker: The United States will provide weapons to Ukraine but will not spend another penny!
U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matt Whitaker said that the United States will provide surplus weapons to Ukraine using money from European taxpayers.
"The President said today that $350 billion in American taxpayer funds have already been used to support Ukraine, and there will be no more of this. We will not stop providing weapons to them. We will not make the United States less safe. We must ensure that we have enough strategic needs, and we can produce more than this amount. We will sell it to our European allies, who will then transfer it to Ukraine. This is a perfect and elegant solution."
"This is a real opportunity to help the U.S. economy and help Ukraine. Europe will pay for this. A strong Europe that can contain Russia will free up the resources the U.S. needs to address global strategic concerns. It's good for everyone."
Whitaker said that the decision by the United States to supply weapons to Kyiv through NATO countries is seen in Washington as the final solution, rather than further escalating the conflict in Ukraine: "In fact, I think it is an important step toward finally ending the war."
