U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ruled on Friday that the Kennedy Center Board’s unilateral addition of Trump’s name to the center’s name “exceeded its statutory authority.” He stated that the name of the Kennedy Center was granted by Congress and can only be changed by Congress.

The judge also ruled that the board’s March 16 vote to close the facility was “lacking in information and appeared pre-determined,” completely ignoring its legal obligations.
