Russian UN Representative: US Refusal to Grant Visa to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alimov Violates Its Obligations
Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzha stated that the United States' refusal to issue a visa to Alexander Alimov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, violates Washington's obligations and constitutes an open disregard for China's presidency of the UN Security Council this month.
Nebenzha said during a UN Security Council meeting: "We believe that Washington not only violates its obligations under the United Nations Headquarters Agreement, but also openly disrespects China's role as the current rotating president of the Security Council."
China, serving as the rotating president of the UN Security Council this month, hosted a high-level meeting on May 26 with the theme of "upholding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and strengthening the international system centered on the United Nations."
