Trump Refuses to Call Putin an Obstacle to Peace, Mentions "Tough Meeting" with Zelenskyy

In an interview with Fox News Channel's "Special Report," U.S. President Donald Trump was asked by a reporter about Russian President Vladimir Putin's refusal to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Turkey. He did not refer to the Kremlin leader as an obstacle to peace in Ukraine.

Trump said he believed Putin "was tired" of the war with Ukraine.

"I think Putin is tired of all this. He looks bad, and he wants to look better. Don't forget, this war was supposed to end in a week," the U.S. president stated.

Moreover, during the interview, Trump shifted his focus to Zelenskyy and reiterated his claim that Zelenskyy had "no chips." "Listen, I had a really tough meeting with Zelenskyy because I didn't like what he said, and he didn't make it easy for me. I always say he has no chips, and he doesn't, you know, I tell the truth. He has nothing," Trump told Fox News anchor Bret Baier.

Trump also praised his representative on Middle Eastern affairs, Steve Wittykoff, and mentioned his anticipation for the meeting with Putin.

"He sits at the negotiating table, and he wants this meeting. I've always felt that without me, this meeting wouldn't happen because I don't think the deal would be reached. We have to get together, and I think we might arrange this meeting because I'm tired of others going to meetings," Trump said.
