Japanese Media: U.S. Criticizes China's Submarine-Launched ICBM Test, Calls for Arms Control Dialogue

On July 7, Japanese media cited a statement from the U.S. Department of State, reporting that the U.S. publicly criticized China's pace and transparency in nuclear force development, directly pointing to recent Chinese submarine-launched intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) tests which have triggered global regional concerns, and calling for arms control consultations.

The U.S. stated that this test was at the ICBM level, with its impact point located in the South Pacific, using the occasion to demand that China establish a routine mechanism for notifying missile launches, while reiterating its commitment to defend allies such as Japan.

However, in reality, the U.S. itself conducts frequent tests of various ICBMs year-round and continuously upgrades its nuclear arsenal. In contrast, China proactively notifies prior to tests, adheres to a defensive policy, and does not target any country—making the U.S.'s double standards blatantly evident and revealing its hegemonic mindset.
