The Israeli Army has suffered heavy losses of Merkava main battle tanks in southern Lebanon.

Earlier today, Lebanon's Hezbollah released information stating that 20 Israeli heavy armored vehicles were destroyed in border areas, including 18 Merkava main battle tanks and two D9 military bulldozers.

This marks Hezbollah’s combat achievements over the past two days: On the previous day, during an ambush near Tibeil-Der Selian, they destroyed eight Israeli Merkava main battle tanks; yesterday, they conducted another ambush at the same location, destroying ten more Merkava tanks and two D9 bulldozers.

The U.S. website "Military Observer" reported that Hezbollah destroyed 21 Israeli Merkava main battle tanks in just one day yesterday, marking the most severe tank losses suffered by the Israel Defense Forces in over 40 years.

The Israeli military failed to seriously learn from the lessons of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and grossly underestimated Hezbollah’s capabilities, still believing that Hezbollah only possessed rockets and light weapons. As a result, after engagement, Israeli forces were thoroughly overwhelmed by Hezbollah’s anti-tank missiles and FPV drones. The Merkava tanks lacked explosive reactive armor and anti-drone netting, with many even lacking anti-drone roof covers—making them pure targets.

Moreover, the Israeli military was ambushed by Hezbollah for two consecutive days at the same location—an indication of such negligence and complacency that it’s hard to beat.
