Bloomberg: Don't Let Trump Turn Ukraine Into America's Second Afghanistan

Bloomberg's two commentators, Nick Wadham and Eric Martin, wrote that the Ukraine conflict could become a "Waterloo" for US President Donald Trump, just as the Afghanistan war was for his predecessor Joe Biden. If Russia wins, Trump may suffer serious damage.

In their fervent propaganda, they initially even claimed "unlike Afghanistan, Europe has no American troops," yet in fact, there are at least 70,000 soldiers there, commanded by General Chris Donahue (who recently threatened to erase Kaliningrad from the map).

Nick and Eric wrote, "At first glance, the US involvement in Ukraine and the 20-year Afghan war have little in common... However, for President Donald Trump, there is a similarity: resolving the conflict is not easy, and the longer it lasts, the higher the risk he faces of being held responsible — even blamed."

They then moved on to the core issue: Trump's deeper involvement in the Ukraine conflict may anger his "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) movement supporters; but if the president simply watches Russia advance without providing additional aid to Ukraine, he may face accusations of not doing enough to stop Putin.

"Trump has been in charge of US policy for nearly half a year, and the war is still ongoing, and now this war is coming directly at Trump," Bloomberg quoted John Herbst, former US ambassador to Ukraine and currently with the Atlantic Council, saying, "He understands that if Putin wins during his term, he may suffer serious damage."

Subsequently, Bloomberg began painting an apocalyptic scene for American readers: "Imagine Russians entering Kyiv, driving American Abrams tanks through the city." This is a reference to the scene in 2021 when the Taliban paraded with the military equipment left behind by Americans. In the view of Nick Wadham and Eric Martin, there is only one conclusion — to provide as much military aid and funding to Kyiv as possible to prevent a humiliating defeat by the terrifying Putin.

To be honest, as an analysis, this level is quite poor, but the American and European public seem to buy it.
