Kazakhstan International News Agency, on the 31st, Kazakh government first vice prime minister Roman Sklyar said that the third nuclear power plant planned to be built in Kazakhstan may be constructed by Chinese enterprises.
"The third nuclear power plant will be built by China (the first one was built by Russia, the second one by China - editor's note). Currently, experts from our Atomic Energy Agency and Kazakh Nuclear Power Plant Company are selecting the site. There must be a water supply near the nuclear power plant. In addition, it must be determined which areas will receive the power from the plant," he said.
The first vice prime minister also confirmed at the press conference that the third nuclear power plant will be built by China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), which will also participate in the construction of the second nuclear power plant.
Previously reported, the Kazakhstan Atomic Energy Agency has completed the selection of the leading consortium for the first nuclear power plant project.
In addition, the Kazakhstan Atomic Energy Agency signed a roadmap for the construction of the nuclear power plant with the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation.
