Korean Media: Within Two Years, Half of Global Companies Will Use Chinese AI Models!
On September 3, South Korean media outlet Chosun Ilbo published an article stating that it is expected that within two years, more than half of companies worldwide will incorporate Chinese AI models into their internal operations.
As the United States' technological dominance rapidly weakens, China has established an independent ecosystem encompassing semiconductors, AI models, AI agents, and robotics.
Analysts point out that the global competition for AI leadership is entering a new phase—Chinese AI, once considered merely low-cost alternatives, has now joined the ranks of cutting-edge frontier AI and is being widely adopted by enterprises.
Market research firm Gartner recently released its 2026 China AI Key Trends Report, forecasting that the proportion of global enterprises adopting Chinese AI models will surge from 5% last year to 50% by 2027. This indicates that as companies move beyond relying on single AI models and instead adopt multiple, purpose-specific AI models, cost-effective Chinese AI is becoming a key choice.
Gartner stated: “Since Chinese AI models are open-source, enterprises can fine-tune them according to their specific needs and add security measures. This helps countries build autonomous AI capabilities.”
Recently, with the rapid improvement in performance of Chinese AI models, the technological gap between China and advanced U.S. AI models is narrowing swiftly. Experts analyze that the previous technical gap between Chinese and American AI models was 6 to 9 months, but has now been reduced to just 2 to 3 months.
Gartner also predicts that “by 2030, Chinese companies will use over 50% domestic AI accelerators in their AI infrastructure.” Currently, there are more than 30 Chinese AI accelerator developers; Gartner notes that about 10 of them have successfully achieved mass production of independently developed AI accelerators and now hold significant market shares.
